Obituary of Slyvia Smith

Sylvia Smith was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 27, 1941 to the late Amy Green-Adams and John Jackson. She was the most loving, giving, and sweetest woman that you could have ever met. Sylvia was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and worked as a home health aide. She took the common sense approach to handling everyday problems and issues which arouse in her life. She had a fond outlook on life, always seeing sunshine, even on the cloudiest of days. She was a counsellor to all who were in need of great advice or just warm words. She was able to connect with people of all walks of life and ages. She seemed to know more about the younger generation than most. Sylvia was always giving and forgiving, a nurturer at heart. Only looking for the good in persons and helping them to their fullness. She was a strong and beautiful spirit. Sylvia enjoyed bingo, cooking, and playing cards. But, her family game was poker-keeno where she would play from sundown to sunrise. She had a passion for the latest fashions she knew what style was in season every season. Sylvia was extremely family oriented. She loved having family gatherings where she would cook up a feast. She enjoyed long meaningful conversations. She had a smile and laughter that would light up the room with sparkle from her beautiful green eyes. She had a very personal and special relationship with the Lord. Always praying for others and for herself. Installing the word into family and friends was a compassion she had. Singing and listening to gospel music gave her an outstanding joy. Sunday family morning prayer was a tradition of hers that she put a strong emphasis on so that her family would know the importance of having a relationship with God. Sylvia is preceded in death by her children Gordon and Sylvia Green, husbands Fred Drayton and Lawrence Smith and brother Edward Adams. She leaves to cherish her memories children John, Diana, Fernandos, Ferna, Congo, and Paul. A special grandchild, Tiarra. Godmother Gloria Richards and Goddaughter Sylvia Ladson. Countless grand and great grandchildren. Sisters: Rosetta Alcorn, Sally Herrin, and Sarah Adams. Brothers: Robert, James and Adams and a host of other family.
