Obituary of Jacqueline Landers
The Life Story
Jacky’s story began on August 19, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was born the oldest of six children to the late Linetta Smith and Billy Williams. She was educated in the Philadelphia school system where she attended Dobbins Vocational Technical High School.
In 1987, Jacky married the love of her life, the late Reverend John Landers and there, a “dynamic duo” was formed. “The Landers” loved traveling the world vacationing, but, there was nothing they loved more than the Lord and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jacky had a calling for winning souls to Christ. She would often ask, “Do you know Christ?” and “Are you saved?” You would often find her talking about Jesus to family and friends all while captivating them with her beautiful smile and gentle spirit.
Jacky moved to Lansdale, Pennsylvania in the early 2000’s with her late sister, Eleanor Johnson. The sisters did many things together. If you saw one, you saw the other. While in Lansdale, she became a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir where her love of “ministering through song” grew stronger. Jacky had a sweet, angelic voice that could get you through any situation.
Jacky worked as a medical billing specialist at Chestnut Hill Hospital until her retirement. It wasn’t long before she reentered the workforce as a caregiver for the Dwyer family, taking care of the late Joe Dwyer. She built a special bond with Joe and his lovely wife, Rose along with their two children, Kathleen and Joe Jr. Jacky became family to the Dwyers and remained in their lives even after Joe’s passing.
Jacky also gave tirelessly to others. She would regularly sing at “Living Branches”, a senior living community and volunteer at “Bridges of Hope” where she mentored single mothers and their childrens. Jacky was truly an angel of God.
During her final years, Jacky became attached to the family dog, Bella. They spent many days and nights together. Bella was truly Jacky’s best friend. She always had a photo and loving story on hand to share with anyone who would listen. Jacky loved Bella as much as she loved life.
Jacky was preceded in death by: her loving husband, John; grandmother, Eleanor; her mother, Linetta; sister, Eleanor; and brothers, Quinton and David.
