Obituary of Lillie Carter

Sister Lily carter was born in raised in the city of Newport News Virginia, August 8, 1932. to the late St. Geneva P. Brown from Jamaica New York, and Jacob Brown, A Pastor of Newport News VA. After hearing the wonderful music from her kitchen window while cooking, Geneva Brown took off her apron, following the music and joined the United House of Prayer, along with her 4 children. Lillie completed her high school diploma in the public school of VA. She then became self-employed as a cosmetologist doing hair. She later married a childhood friend Mr. James a Carter, and later moved to Philadelphia where she birthed eight beautiful children. she was a member of "North Philadelphia House in Prayer" for over 45 years, where she was an originating member of the "Elderoder Choir" and served as a "United usher" for over 30 years. She was currently under the pastorship of Apostle C. Commodore. Lillie transitioned from this life on Sunday, October 16, 2016, to join those who preceded her in death, her Mother, the late Geneva P. brown; father, the late Jacomb Brown; 2 daughters, Sheila and Denise; and her Son, Terry. she leave to mourn, 1 sister, Elaine Ballenger; 1 brother, Obie brown; 2 daughters, Dionne Smith and Marchesa Carter; 2 sons, Darryl and James Carter; 1 daughter-in-law, Cynthia Carter; a host of Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. sorrowfully submitted, the family
